So the month has come to an end and what a busy one it’s been for fashion – but first of all… can we just take a moment to remind ourselves that it’s actually MARCH today? …WTH
…THIS YEAR IS FLYING
Feb has been jam packed with celeb gossip, fashion events and style inspo so I wanted to use this post to talk about some of my highlights of the month…
KEY TRENDS FROM FASHION WEEK
London Fashion Week kicked off early this month so let’s take a look at some of the catwalk styles we can actually imagine ourselves wearing next season!
Not only are our living rooms covered in velvet, our bodies will be too soon! LFW was filled with the stuff from top-to-toe fuchsia at Peter Pilotto; burnished yellow and faded violet at the Ottoman-inspired Erdem; and glistening with appliqué jellyfish at Mary Katrantzou, velvet is winning in 2017!
Florals are ALWAYS big in summer but Johnny Coca threw things way back to the 70s when he revived the Mulberry Home wallpaper patterns for his autumn collection – and I imagine this will be one to look out for this year, especially combo’d with some soft satin fabrics. LUSH!
Unorthodox colour combos also seem to be a key trend to look out for – Roksanda combined a cobalt blue, oxblood red and chestnut brown (slightly random I know) but it strangely worked! And Roland Mouret’s teal, mauve and forest green suede shoe combo looks banging – so get ready to colour block your wardrobe next season.
One of my fave highlights of LFW (and something I’ll definitely want to introduce in upcoming collections) was the folk vibe in the Temperley show. Between the delicate dresses and stunning jumpsuits arose the most elegant of blouses. Oversized baggy sleeve and front lace up details give a folk-ish theme to the garments but I absolutely LOVE the look of these and can definitely see myself combo’in a similar piece with some highwaisted denims and strappy heels.
BABES OF THE OSCARS
The 2017 Oscars landed this week – and aside from the HUGE winner announcement drama that’s hit every headline going, I wanted to shout about a few of the best dressed stars from the night.
BAE OF THE CENTURY Chrissy Teigen absolutely killing it in Zuhair Murad
BOMBSHELL Emma Stone looking flawless and floaty in Givenchy
HOT MAMA Jessica Biel bringing the shimmer in KaufmanFranco
BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL Viola Davis grabbing all the attention in Armani
COOKIE ON FLEEK Taraji P. Henson showing off that thigh in Alberta Ferretti
CELEB HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH
Beyonce is preggers …and she’s only having twins! She’ll be bringing her very own Destiny’s Child into the world (if she has girls) and I couldn’t be more excited.
DJ Khaled feat. Beyonce, Jay Z ‘Shinin’ (literally listening to this song on repeat right now)
Drake visited my hometown …and shut sh*t down!
I’m a huge Drake fan, and when I heard he was coming to Leeds I had to get tickets – which ended in me going to see him twice (because I really do love it that much!). I’ve been a fan since day one so loved when he performed some of his older albums, but I can’t lie when Giggs surprised the audience with Whipping Excursion things got pretty wild!
MEME OF THE MONTH
What were your highlights of Feb? I’d love to here…
